Back office activities

Certain back office activities, or administrative support activities, carried out for a third party may be eligible for a refundable tax credit if they are carried out under certain conditions.

What you should know

To access the tax benefits administered by the Ministère des Finances, the corporation must, first and foremost, hold the qualification certificates and annual certificates required under the Act respecting the sectoral parameters of certain fiscal measures (CQLR, chapter P-5.1) This link opens a new Window and, to that end, hold the status of international financial centre.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the tax benefits, back office activities must be carried out on behalf of a third party and relate to international financial transactions carried out by the latter.

Eligible back office activities

Eligible back office activities include:

  • administration of damage insurance contracts
  • claims management
  • custody services
  • fund accounting
  • netting
  • reconciliation
  • registration of transactions
  • securities settlement
  • transaction accounting
  • transfer of funds and securities
  • etc.

Others activities that may be eligible for tax credits

In addition to back office activities carried out for a third party, a corporation may also carry out other types of activities that may be eligible for tax credits.
