The publication of the Pre-election Report on the State of Québec’s Public Finances – August 2022 lows from the government’s commitment to publish a report on Québec’s public finances prior to fixed-date general elections. This document is based on the financial framework of the Québec Budget Plans – March 2022 to which the necessary adjustments were made to take into account the most recent information.
Given the uncertain context, the Pre-election Report on the State of Québec’s Public Finances is based on balanced economic forecasts and a prudent financial framework. The forecasts presented in this report are underpinned by reasonable, plausible assumptions that reflect best practices, particularly those recommended by international organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
